o Opinion Writing: There were many ideas about how to put the country back together after the War. Some wanted to punish the South. Some wanted to be more forgiving. Some wanted to restrict the rights of newly freed slaves. Others wanted to give them the same rights as other citizens. Which opinion you agree with most?

o Informative/Explanatory Writing: Throughout history, people have gone to war, then after the war is over, sometimes the victor helps the loser regain footing. Explain why the victor would do this.

o Journal Writing: Write a journal entry about what your life has been like this week. How are you feeling? What have you done? What did you enjoy/do for fun? What do you miss?
