Resources that promote digital literacy and reflect the diversity of adult English learners

The Change Agent: (High Beginner - High Intermediate ESOL) A biannual electronic magazine for adult educators and learners published by the New England Literacy Resource Center (NELRC) at World Education, with curated submissions from adult learners across the U.S. (MA adult educators have free access to this site with login massachusetts / changeagent). Issues on topics related to digital literacy include:

Google Applied Digital Skills: (Intermediate - Advanced ESOL) A collection of creative video-based lessons on how to effectively use a wide array of digital tools in the Google suite, taught by a diverse group of instructors, that can be used either in the classroom or assigned as independent learning activities for students.  Topics include doing effective Internet searches, sending professional emails, organizing files in Google Drive, developing infographics, online safety, building a presentation, using an online calendar, and many more.

Northstar Online Learning (NSOL): (Intermediate - Advanced ESOL) Northstar Digital Literacy was developed to support the digital literacy needs of adult learners and defines basic skills needed to perform tasks on computers and online. Online, self-guided modules assess the ability of individuals to perform tasks based on these skills. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in Essential Computer Skills, Essential Software Skills, and Using Technology in Daily Life. Programs can become certification sites, to recognize student achievements, and an online site also permits students to independently learn in several units:

Northstar has also collated a collection of publicly available external resources to support development of basic computer skills, including basic computer skills, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, use of social media, career search tools, and monitoring a digital footprint, among others.
