Want to be involved at the college? It's never too late. We are accepting applications!
We meet every Thursday from 2pm - 3:30pm in CC227 (Student Engagement). These serve as our weekly meetings to report committee activity, talk about service hours opportunities, and have discussions with administrators. Open to the public, these meetings serve as a great foundation for students, faculty, and staff to elevate their voices to bring awareness to issues facing the campus community.
Voting in the Student Government Association is restricted to SGA Senators only. To become part of the Student Government Association, prospective students can apply here.
The SGA's greatest strength is our dedication to service. We pride ourselves on being the reliable helping hand on campus—whether we're ushering guests, assisting with club activities, or managing event setup and teardown.
Have an event or program that you'd like the Senate's participation in? Reach out to us! We'd love to help. Alternatively, feel free to reach us by our extension: x2522.
A lot of work is done in committees. Here at HCC, it's no different; the college has a wide variety of public committees under the HCC Shared Governance Model.
Every tenured Senator is required to participate in at least one committee, ensuring student voices are consistently present in the everyday business of the college. Committee reports are shared every Thursday during Senate meetings. Interested in seeing the full list of Committees at HCC? Expand the arrows below to see more.
Student Government Association Committees are created, either temporarily (adhoc) or permanently (standing), to focus on specific areas of interest. These committees are open to all students, staff, and faculty, with virtually no restrictions on participation or voting.
College Committees are designated by the HCC Shared Governance Model, covering a particular area of focus within the college. Each committee is made up of its own voting membership, which consists of staff, faculty, adjuncts, and SGA Senators. While these meetings are open to the public, voting is restricted solely to Committee members.
