Hello! My name is L. Wimberly Roberson, and this is my eighth year in education. I am the media specialist at Miller Elementary School and love everything about my job! For the first seven years of my career, I was a language arts teacher at Warner Robins Middle School. I currently serve on the leadership team for Miller Elementary, and co-host a reading club for K-2nd graders. Outside of instilling a love of reading in our Rockets, I also help manage technology and social media and create the yearbook.
During my teaching career, I have taught 6th grade ELA, 7th grade ELA, and virtual 6th grade social studies. I have taught a wide variety of students including gifted, co-taught, and English language learners. I served as the lead teacher for 6th grade ELA for five years. After school, I worked with various clubs including leading drama club and co-leading academic team and Junior Beta club, co-directing the Miss Warner Robins Middle School pageant, and helping with student book club. I also served on the school leadership team and the gifted eligibility team for Warner Robins Middle.
Before I began my teaching career, I worked as a substitute for the Houston County School System. I also worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida! Serving as an attractions cast member, I spent my days hanging out with singing birds at The Enchanted Tiki Room and flying magic carpets with Aladdin in Magic Kingdom! It was a truly unforgettable experience, and I will always be a Disney Cast Member at heart!
I graduated in 2018 from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education: concentrations Language Arts and Social Studies. During college, I student taught in 6th grade Social Studies, 4th grade Language Arts, and 8th grade Language Arts and Georgia History. In the spring of 2022, I graduated from Georgia Southern University with my Master of Education in Instructional Technology and School Library Media! Additionally, I completed my Gifted and Talented Education Endorsement in Spring of 2022 and my Reading Endorsement in the Spring of 2023
I am certified to teach gifted and talented students, as well as 4-8th grade Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies. I am also certified in secondary English (6-12th grades), to be a Media Specialist for grades P-12, and I have Instructional Technology certification for grades P-12. I previously was a Level 2 Certified Google Educator and a certified Apple Teacher.
Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with friends and family! I married my very own Prince Charming on New Year's Day of 2022, so it's not uncommon to still hear a previous student call me Ms. Tyler. We are proud dog parents to a mini-dachshund named Molly. Additionally, we welcomed our first child, a baby boy, in October of 2023.
Our favorite place to visit together is Universal Orlando because we are huge Harry Potter fans. In fact, I introduced him to Harry Potter, and he proposed on the bridge that gives a beautiful view to Hogwarts Castle! All of the team members were shocked to see a Slytherin and a Hufflepuff get engaged, but no matter our Hogwarts Houses, we are completely meant to be. We love adventuring together, but we also love a night in with ice cream and a puzzle!
Family is a huge part of my life, and I love spending quality time with them, whether it is crafting with my mom or cheering on the Braves with my dad. My best friend is basically my sister, and we love to go on adventures together wherever we can, but especially to Ashville, North Carolina.
If I'm relaxing, I can be found painting, reading, gardening, doing hand embroidery, watching Big Brother or something true crime, or creating something, always with my Molly girl and my little boy by my side!
