What will my child gain from the MCMS Band Program?
Music education fosters creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, benefiting students in all areas of life. It's not just about learning to play an instrument; it's about developing a well-rounded individual with a deeper understanding of the world.
About Mr. Bragg
I have been teaching band at Mossy Creek Middle School since 2017, and I'm proud to be a Mossy Creek Gator. My wife, April, and our two children, Abi and Drew, live in Bonaire, GA. My wife, April, is the CEO of the Robins Region Chamber, and loves her work. We attend Shirley Hills Baptist Church. I earned a Masters in Music Education from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, IL in 2003. I began my teaching career in 1998. I taught 18 years in Milledgeville, GA, two years at Northside Middle. I was Baldwin County's Teacher of the year in 2001, Oak Hill Middle School's Teacher of the Year in 2008, and I was named Northside Middle's Teacher of the Year in 2017, which was the year of my move to Mossy Creek Middle School. I perform with Reunion, a central Georgia wedding band that I have played with since 2005, and Wartown Jazz, based in Warner Robins.
Since 2018, the Bands at Mossy Creek have increased in number from 81 to 260 students. The 7th and 8th grade band won superior ratings at the Georgia Large Group Performance Evaluation each year since 2019, and went on to win first place and superior ratings at the Six Flags Over Georgia Band Competition in the Spring of 2025.
My goal for each student is to find some small success in my band room everyday, carry the understanding of how to succeed into every task they undertake, and inspire others to succeed.
