You are unable to come to school: You must let the school know via the Edge app, Skool Loop or by leaving a message on the school phone before 8.30am each day you are absent. If you are absent for longer than three days you need a medical certificate.
You are late for school: Please come to the office and sign in and drop off your phone.
You know you will be away: If you are going to be on an extended holiday, ask your parents to apply for leave in writing to the Principal.
You need to leave school during school time: (e.g. go to the doctor or to the dentist). Please bring a note to school and have it signed by your Whānau Leader by interval or email the office in advance office@hc.school.nz
You don’t have the correct uniform on: Bring a note to your Whānau Leader who will issue you with a uniform pass – you must carry this pass with you. In some cases we can loan you the uniform item for the day. If you are out of uniform and do not have a uniform pass there will be a consequence.
You need to use the phone: There is a phone at the Office in case of emergencies. This is not available in class time.
You change your address or phone number or emergency contact information: This is very important information and we need to know. Please notify the office by phone or email so we can update.
You need to find out about bus travel or buy a bus pass/ticket: Speak to the office staff at interval or lunchtime only.
You are feeling unwell, have hurt yourself or have a medical problem: Report to the Office and a staff member will see you through to the Sick Bay. You will be looked after from there and your parents will be notified if necessary.
You need stationery: This is something you will have to sort out for yourself or ask your parent or guardian to help you.
You would like to speak to the Counsellor: You can speak to your Whānau Leader or another trusted teacher to help you make an appointment to see the counsellor.
You would like to play sport: Please make the time to meet with our Sports Coordinator or speak to your P.E Teacher.
You are being teased or harassed: You can talk to any of the teaching staff and they will help you – your Wha– nau Teacher, a subject teacher and Wha– nau Leader. Your Peer Mentor can also help you to inform a trusted adult at Huanui College.
You want to talk about your studies: Firstly speak with your teacher and then the Curriculum Leader in charge of the subject area.
You have a concern of complaint: You can talk to your Whānau Teacher and Whānau Leader. It is a good idea to write down your complaint or concern.
You lose something that belongs to you: Check at the Office first then look in your phone tray. Please ensure you name all your property for easy return.
You have something confiscated: Confiscated property can be reclaimed from your Whānau Leader. Your parents may be called in to collect it.
You need a place to do your homework or want some support: After school prep is available 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm Monday to Thursday. Alternatively, ask for support from your subject teacher who may refer you on to after school or lunchtime tuition.
You want to be more involved: Take notice of the Daily Notices – ask your Whānau Teacher for more information.
You would like a school locker: Please talk to the Office and they will organise you a locker.
I need a safe place: Speak to the office staff or a trusted teacher.
I miss my bus: Report to the Office and a staff member will contact your whānau.
I forgot my lunch/PE kit/resources for the day etc.: Report to the Office before school and a staff member will contact your whānau.
