Interval/Lunch
• Students are required to eat their snacks/lunch outside the classroom. Students are expected to take ALL packaging they bring to school home with them every day as we are deemed a sustainable school.
• Only Year 13 students may leave the school grounds at lunchtime only. They are required to sign out/in at the office and return before Period 5 begins. Leaving school grounds at lunchtime is a privilege that the school reserves the right to revoke.
School Boundaries for Students
The following areas of the school are OUT OF BOUNDS unless with a teacher or staff member:
• Beyond the farm paddocks at the rear of the school
• The bush area beside the roundabout/bus bay
• Past the fences that border the school fields
• Past the fences that border the school tennis/netball courts
• The area located behind the gym
• The immediate area around the water tanks
• No walking on the grass at the entrance to school and the Quad area.
• The foyer is not a thoroughfare to get to your classrooms more quickly and is off limits to all Year 7 – 11 students, unless visiting the school office. This rule applies before, during and after school.
• Classrooms are out of bounds during break times, before and after school unless supervised
Student-Lead Committees
Our community values what students have to say. There are a number of student-lead committees that all students can get involved in. Sign up for these committees are at the beginning of the year. Some of the committees include:
• Academic
• Cultural
• Environment
• Social
• Sports
• Student
• Well-Being
Sports and Extra-Curricular
Students are encouraged to get involved in sporting and other forms of extra-curricular activities on offer. We believe by getting involved in such activities it helps to grow the whole person. See our Sports Co-ordinator for more details.
Study Room
A study room may be provided for senior students. Students are required to:
• Use the room for study periods only
• No eating permitted
• Respect the space and use it appropriately
• Work quietly and productively
Senior Students Study
Year 13 students are permitted to arrive late on days when they have a study period timetabled for Period 1, or leave early on days when they have a study during Period 6. Students must sign in and out at Reception when arriving late or leaving early. Please note that students may not take both Period 1 and 2 off, even if they have study periods scheduled for both.
Uniform
Students who are not in correct uniform should see their Whānau Leader before the 8.45am start of the school day to request a uniform pass. This pass must be kept with them for the duration of the day. If their Whānau Leader is unavailable, students may approach another Whānau Leader for guidance.
Click here for rules and regulations on school uniform.
We would also like to make a change to the uniform requirements around Summer/Winter uniform. The idea is that students could wear either summer or winter shoes/uniform now but that sandals must only be worn with shorts or a skirt (not with the long trousers cause they will look ridiculous!)
Interval/Lunch
Students are not permitted to chew gum at school.
Fizzy drinks and energy drinks are also strongly discouraged, as they are not aligned with the College’s expectations for a healthy and focused learning environment.
We encourage students to bring water or other appropriate drinks to support their wellbeing and concentration throughout the day.
Walking to and from School
Due to the location of the College and in the interest of student safety, walking to and from school is strongly discouraged. Students may only do so if the College has received written permission from a parent or caregiver. This helps ensure we are aware of each student’s travel arrangements and can provide appropriate support if needed.
