For Parents/Guardians

  • Teenagers will need to establish a daily routine. Most assignments will be due at the start of the class for which they were assigned. Encourage them to do these assignments immediately. They should set aside specific time each day to complete homework assignments. Consistency leads to success.

  • Create a productive work space for your student. Some students may be able to work in their bedrooms, but it is best to have a separation between the academic and fun time.

  • Encourage ways for your teen to have maximum focus during homework time. A "work/life balance" is a skill with which you will have to help your teen.

  • Ensure your student has the technical tools they need for coursework. Our district has provided them with a chromebook, and if needed, we can also provide wifi hotspots.

  • Encourage your student to keep in touch with teachers, friends and mentors. Give your teen some time OFF technology. And get outside whenever possible!

  • Contact the school and have YOUR STUDENT contact their teachers if they are sick and unable to attend school because attendance will be taken!

  • Check Canvas regularly for assignments and grades. Your teen has access and can show you. It is also possible for you to sign up for a Canvas Parent Observer account. Click here for instruction on how to set up your account.

  • Help your student reach out to teachers for support if needed. Since your student is a Senior it is important we HELP THEM learn how to advocate for THEMSELVES. Therefore, if there are any questions regarding assignments or grades it is not acceptable for you to make contact with me. Encourage YOUR STUDENT to make the contact. If they do not understand something THEY need to ask, not you. If you need further clarification on something you need to ask YOUR STUDENT. If they cannot explain it to you then THEY need to seek further information. If a situation requires you to be involved I will most likely be contacting you directly.

  • Take care of yourself in your role as caregiver! Give yourself, and others, some grace. Be good to yourself.
