About Me

The 2021-2022 school year will be my 22nd year teaching, as well as my 22nd year at Edison High School. In my time at Edison I have taught World History, US History, AP US History, US Government, Economics, AP Government, and CIBACS Economics & Government. My current teaching schedule is my ideal schedule: AP Government, Economics/US Government, and CIBACS Economics & Government. Outside of the classroom I have served as the Cheer Advisor, Junior Class Advisor, Charger Connections Advisor, Assemblies Coordinator, Freshman Baseball Coach, Asst. Varsity Baseball Coach, and voice of many Edison sports teams. I currently announce Varsity Football, Varsity Girls Volleyball, Varsity Boys Volleyball, Wrestling, and Softball. Sometimes I also announce Varsity Boy's & Girl's Basketball when Mr. Patch is unavailable.

I met my wife Theresa in 1995, we were married in 1997 and we live in Huntington Beach. Theresa is a Mechanical Engineer and the stuff she does at work is amazing. We have two children. Both of our children graduated from Edison: Bobby (2017) and Brooke (2020). Bobby played baseball and was a four year member of the CIBACS Program (yes, he was in my class). Brooke was a four year member of the Model United Nations Program and was a three year Charger Connections Leader. Our son Bobby graduated from THE Ohio State University where he is double majored in Finance & Marketing. He currently works for the Atlanta Braves Low Minor A team, the Augusta GreenJackets, handling Social Media and Marketing. Brooke is a Sophomore at the University of Oklahoma where she is majoring in Dance and minoring in Biology.

I grew up in Huntington Beach and am the oldest of 11 children. I attended St. Bonaventure Catholic School and Mater Dei High School (Class of 1985). Following high school I attended Orange Coast College where I was a coxswain on the rowing team and cheerleading squad. I transfered to UCLA and graduated with a BA in Political Science. I received my Single Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Fullerton. Additionally, I earned a Master's Degree in Education from National University.

I am a sports nut. I love attending sporting events and that is why I love being the voice of so many sports at Edison. I enjoy going to UCLA football games. I am also a big Dodgers fan. Mr. Lemons and I share season tickets to the Los Angeles Dodgers and we are frequently at Dodgers Stadium during the season.

I love what I do and I look forward to sharing this love with you. When I tell people what I do and what I teach they always say "this must be a great time to be teaching that subject." It is always a great time to teach about the United States Government and the U.S. economy. My classes are not history, though we will look at some history, it is about "what's happening now!"

Finally, I invite you to join me on social media as sometimes I will post information there as well. I am on Twitter & YouTube. Make sure you follow and subscribe.
