The Notice of ARD Committee Meetings is provided for all ARD meetings. It is to be given in the language of the parent and must include the following:
The ARD committee meeting must be scheduled at a time agreeable to the parent and the school. If the time or date the school proposes is not convenient for the parent, the school must make reasonable efforts to find a time that the parent is able to meet. Parents may participate through alternative means such as through phone or video conferencing. The parent can also designate a person to attend the meeting in his or her place.
The parent(s)/guardians/surrogate parents must receive the notice a minimum of five school days in advance of the meeting. The parent(s)/guardian/surrogate parent may waive the five-day notice. Efforts to ensure required members have an opportunity to reschedule or participate by phone or video conference and must be documented on the ARD notice. The result of communication regarding parent notification and response is to be documented.
At least 3 attempts to ensure parent/surrogate parent participation must be made by the campus before proceeding with an ARD meeting. Communications may include:
If after receiving Notice of ARD Committee Meeting the parent requests an alternate date/time that is mutually agreeable with school staff, a second written notice is not required but change must be documented in the communication.
