If the World were a Village
If the World were a Village helps us to understand how the world's population (6,660,000,000) is represented in the imaginary village of 100 people.
Each one person represents approximately 67 million people from the real world.
In the next few lessons we will be unpicking information from this text to put it into perspective and see where we stand in the big picture.
Lesson 1
Today we will be...
(from a Mathematical perspective)
Using our place value knowledge to read BIG numbers
Unpacking the word 'Population'
Investigating populations of familiar countries or countries of interest to us and ordering these population from smallest to largest.
(from a Geographical perspective)
Understanding the difference between a country and a continent.
