Parents/Guardians may petition for an appeal to be reviewed by the Appeals Committee by completing the process below. Please note that in order for an appeal to be reviewed, the student must have scored in the “Level 4: Meets Expectations” range for the NJSLA content area being appealed.
Step 1
Parents/Guardians will reach out to the Supervisor(s) to discuss placement. If an appeal is requested, parents/guardians must fill out a Google form to begin the appeal process. If necessary, a link to the google form will be provided by the supervisor. The appeal form must be completed by August 15th.
Step 2
The Appeals Committee, composed of district supervisors and Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent will meet to review longitudinal data to make a determination. Students must demonstrate consistent, high performance when compared to their chronological peers in order to be considered. Additional considerations for borderline scores may include a student’s learning, motivation, and creativity characteristics.
Step 3
The results of the appeal will be communicated to the parent/guardian.
