First three letters of legal first name, five letters of legal last name, and three digits for tie breaker. If a duplicate email exists in Skyward, the three digit tie breaker will be 001, 002, etc.

New students are those who have never enrolled with Hawthorn Academy any time before the 2026-2027 school year.  Passwords follow the same setup as below. 

Returning students:

• Usernames and passwords are different depending on the grade level of the student. 

• No changes were made to the student username from the previous school year.

• Student accounts are created based on the legal name, not the nicknames or preferred names.

• If a student has multiple first names or last names, only the "first" part of the first name or last name is used. 

• Student number (ID number) is now five digits. Four digit student ID numbers in Aspire are converted to five digits numbers in Skyward with a leading zero. Aspire student number 4321 is 04321 in Skyward.

2-3nd grade

4th grade to 5th grade
username: firstname.lastname@hawthornstudent.org
password: hawthorn0xxxx (0xxxx is the five digit student number in Skyward)

6th-9th grade both campuses
Username: firstname.lastname@hawthornstudent.org
Password: The default password is hawthorn0xxxx. If a student's lunch ID is 01234, the password will be hawthorn01234. After students login they will be prompted to create their own password. 

We use SSO (single-sign-on) whenever possible with Hawthorn Google credentials. On a PC or Mac, we recommend using the Chrome browser.  Each student needs to set up a Chrome profile by signing into the Chrome browser using the Hawthorn Google credentials.
