Final Alpha Prototype

The EZ-Chem is an automated swimming pool chemical tester and monitoring system. The EZ-Chem provides constant monitoring and live data outputs. The device needs to precisely administer 3-7mL of pH and Chlorine reagent solutions into two 100mL test tubes. Hidden away as a water fountain, the EZ-Chem will function daily as an addition to your pool. Ability to withstand sunlight for 8+ hours a day and temperatures between 10-55 degrees Celsius., unlike traditional manual testing, this device will accurately and precisely measure the quality of any swimming pool.

The final objective was to create an alpha prototype ready for customer purchase, testing, and use. This was done through the following phases:

3D Modeling and Drawing Package

In this phase, we created a full model of our prototype using SOLIDWORKS. This included top-level assembly, subassemblies, custom parts as well as purchased parts. A full engineering drawing package was created per GD&T standards, including manufacturer and assembly instructions.

Part Fabrication

All parts needed for the final product were fabricated using 3D printing, CNC machining, soldering, etc.

Prototype Assembly and Testing

Finally, the prototype was assembled and tested.

The EZ-Chem is a viable solution to low-cost maintenance needs, for both personal and industrial usage. Correcting water contamination by constant monitoring, will decrease the overall amount of chlorine consumption and cost, all while increasing swim comfort. The idea here is to spend less time cleaning and more time swimming.
