Yoh Kawakami is the Director of Customer Energy Resources Operations at HECO (Hawaiian Electric Company). He contributes to the VIP (Vertically Integrated Projects) project at the University of Hawaii by collaborating with faculty and students to guide students with complex challenges in renewable energy and sustainability. His efforts include mentoring students through offering industry expertise partnerships to drive innovation in renewable energy technologies or operations.

Eileen Peppard

Eileen Peppard is an energy specialist at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, within both the Sea Grant program and the Office of Sustainability in advancing sustainable energy practices. She helps to research renewable energy technologies, implement energy efficiency projects, and strategic energy planning efforts on campus to achieve the university's goals of sustainability, resilience, and carbon neutrality.

Kristine Joyce Locquiao
Electrical Engineering Major
Kristine Joyce Locquiao is a Senior pursuing an electrical engineering degree. She has been with the VIP for five semesters and enjoys learning from others' expertise while gaining valuable experiences. Driven by her passion for sustainability, she joined the VIP to connect her interests with her major. Through this project, she also became a member of the Student Sustainability Council, where she actively contributes to finding solutions for campus sustainability challenges.

Brian Kim is a graduating Senior pursuing a computer engineering degree. This is his first semester with the VIP, but has worked on sustainability projects with Eileen and Miles for a couple of years. With a keen interest in renewable energy, he joined the project to help make the campus a better and more sustainable place for years to come.
