E komo mai - Welcome!
To address the shortage of social work professionals in Hawai’i and the region, we aim to raise awareness of the profession, promote degree pathways in social work, and expand partnerships that support post-graduation workforce success.
To serve as a resource for information, data sharing, and connection between social workers, students, community partners, state agencies, employers, and anyone interested in strengthening our social work workforce in effort to meet community needs.
There is a shortage of social workers on the islands of Maui, Kaua'i, Moloka'i and the Pacific Region. Nationally, social work jobs are expected to grow by 7% in the next 10 years. In response to this need, in August 2024, the Thompson School of Social Work & Public Health's Department of Social Work launched the Workforce Development Hub to promote access to social work education, create workforce development partnerships, raise awareness of the profession, and help grow and strengthen our social work workforce.
