[ East of the Nu'uanau ahupua'a is the ahupua'a of Pauoa, fromely an 'ili of Nu'uanau which cultivated kalo and rice. Within the Pauoa ahupua'a lies Pauoa Stream, formerly named Auwaiolimu. This stream is fed by yearly rainfall along with several springs including the Kehuawai spring located in Pauoa's upper valley. Today, Pauoa Stream's right to flow freely has been restricted by canals and weirs forcing the underground. Despite this subjugation, Pauoa Stream continues to be forgiving and healing and asks of us to do the same. ]
