GSO Grants & Awards are provided to support graduate students in attending professional conferences, research travel/materials, and professional development experiences. Interested students MUST reach out to a representative to determine whether their application can be considered.
GSO will be putting a pause on Grants & Awards after August to revamp the application process and policies. Therefore, at this time, August will be the only time within the Fall 2023 semester for applications. GSO is still committed to our normal funding total amount (pending funds from UH administration) for the academic year.
Budget: Costs up to $1000 for domestic projects and $2000 for international projects. Budgets requesting amounts greater than these limits will be rejected.
GSO G&A financially supports:
a. Professional conference travel and attendance, including airfare, accommodations, and registration fees
b. Professional development, i.e. workshop or special course attendance
c. Research travel, materials, and fees, including data analysis and statistics software, film equipment, archive access charges, and other expenses
GSO G&A does not financially support:
a. Per Diem, food, or ground transportation
b. Personal expenditures
c. Professional/trade organization membership
