Working with the community to improve our park
Ka Hui o ka Paka Makalapa understands the value of culture, connectivity and community. Makalapa Park is the foundation of our effort to promote Mālama `Āina in our commitment to making it safe and accessible through these values for all who wish to use it.
Our partners include Radiant Cordero, District 7 Councilmember, Parents And Children Together (PACT), Trees for Honolulu’s Future, Smart Trees Pacific, The National Park Service - Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance program (NPS-RTCA), and various other members.

Mahalo to the Heat Island Investigators students from Puuwai Momi housing for their dedicated efforts in assessing the current conditions at Makalapa Neighborhood Park. They diligently measured and mapped trees, recorded temperatures, and identified viable solutions to mitigate the impacts of urban heat.
