We invite researchers, scientists, and industry partners working at the intersection of small-scale robotics and biology to share recent progress with the community through teaser talks, live demonstrations, or posters. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Small-scale robotic design, fabrication, actuation, perception, control, and system integration
Bio-inspired robotics and bio-inspired mechanisms
Multiterrain and multimodal locomotion in small-scale animals and robots
Modeling and analysis of small-scale dynamics in multiphysics environments
Soft actuators, functional materials, compliant structures, and soft sensing mechanisms
Swarms and collective behaviors in small-scale animals and robotic systems
Quantitative comparisons among bio-inspired robots, conventional robots, and small animals
Real-world applications of miniature robotics, including medical, environmental, and industrial applications
Teaser Talks & Demos: We will select up to 9 teaser talks and live demos (we encourage live demos, if possible!) to present across the 3 Teaser Talks & Demos Sessions. Other submissions will be accepted to present posters or live demonstrations during the two coffee breaks.
Posters: We invite poster contributions. Accepted contributors can present their poster during two Interactive Sessions at the workshop.
There will be a Best Teaser Talk Award, a Best Poster Award, and a Best Live Demo Award.
Submission Instruction: To participate, please click the following button to submit a single-page PDF abstract in the IEEE conference paper format (including references) by TBD. The accepted abstracts will be publicly available on this workshop website at least until the end of the 2026 IROS. Please note that the accepted extended abstracts in this workshop will not be published in the conference proceedings.
If you experience trouble submitting the abstract using the following link, please email your abstract to tianlu.wang@hawaii.edu. The email should clearly include: your (1) name, (2) affiliation, (3) email, (4) contribution form (teaser talk/demo/poster), and (5) 1-page abstract in PDF.
