Lodging and Transportation

Hilo offers a variety of lodging options at different price points, from oceanfront resorts to locally owned inns and vacation rentals. Most hotels and accommodations are not within walking distance of Hawaiʻi Community College, so attendees should plan to rent a car or use rideshare services during their stay.

Please note that while Hilo is a smaller town, public transportation options are limited. Renting a vehicle is strongly recommended for convenience, especially if you plan to explore the island before or after the conference:

• Hele-On Bus (cost is FREE, but keep in mind of timing as it is routed for other places in Hilo)

• Hilo International Airport Rentals:

  • Hertz, Dollar, Avis, Enterprise, Budget, Alamo (cost varies)

• Other car shares: Turo, Uber, Lyft (all available in Hilo)

Parking at Hawaiʻi Community College

Parking will be available on the Manono Campus for conference attendees.

• Parking on campus is free.

• Attendees will be directed to designated conference parking areas.

• A campus parking map will be provided closer to the event date.

Recommended Stays in Hilo

Hilo offers a mix of resort-style accomidations and locally owned boutique stays. We recommend booking early, as Hilo has limited hotel inventory compared to larger Hawaiʻi destinations.
