We cordially invite you to submit a paper or poster presentation abstract for the 87th Annual Meeting of the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers (APCG), hosted by Hawaiʻi Community College in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. The APCG Annual Meeting is a welcoming and supportive venue to share geographic research, exchange ideas, and build community. We especially encourage graduate and undergraduate students to present.

All presenters must register for the conference before submitting an abstract.
Paper Sessions
20-minute presentations (including Q&A)
Organized into thematic concurrent sessions
Held in person on the Hawaiʻi Community College campus
Session timing will be managed by the session organizer
Paper sessions will be scheduled across Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Poster Sessions
Poster sessions will be held during the conference on campus.
Both traditional printed posters and interactive digital posters (e.g., StoryMaps) are welcome.

Guidelines for Submission
Anyone interested in advancing geographic scholarship may submit an abstract to the APCG Annual Meeting. The APCG accepts all submitted abstracts and organized sessions for presentation. APCG membership and conference registration are required to present.
If you are new to presenting at a conference and have questions about formatting or organizing your presentation, we encourage you to consult with a faculty mentor or colleague. The APCG also provides general tips for presenters below.
Hosted in Hilo, Hawaiʻi — a region shaped by volcanic processes, Indigenous ʻike (knowledge systems), and dynamic human-environment relationships — APCG 2026 invites scholarship that engages with place, Pacific geographies, environmental change, community partnerships, and spatial justice.
How to Submit an Abstract:
Register for the conference at: https://apcg.wildapricot.org
After completing registration, navigate to the Abstract Submission Portal.
Important: Abstracts submitted by non-registered participants will be removed.
If you experience technical issues with abstract submission, contact the APCG 2026 organizing team (contact details to be provided).
Student Presenters: Awards & Travel Support:
Student participation is strongly encouraged.
Students presenting papers or posters may:
Enter the Student Awards Competition (additional application required)
Be considered for travel support funding (when available)
Students interested in travel funding should select the appropriate option on the abstract submission form.

Presentation Format:
The APCG 2026 Annual Meeting is planned as an in-person conference hosted at Hawaiʻi Community College in Hilo, Hawaiʻi.

Abstract Formatting Guidelines:
Each abstract must:
Be no more than 250 words
Clearly describe the purpose, methods, and conclusions of the presentation
Be written in paragraph form (no bullet points)
Do not include:
Bold, italics, underlining, subscripts, or superscripts
Formatting codes
Your name, affiliation, email, or contact information in the abstract body
All presenter information will be entered separately in the submission system.
Tips for a Strong Abstract:
Proofread carefully before submitting — APCG does not edit abstracts.
Compose your abstract in a word processing program (e.g., Microsoft Word or Google Docs) before pasting into the submission form.
Use active voice.
Clearly communicate your findings and contributions.
Avoid unnecessary jargon.
Spell out abbreviations the first time they are used.
Submitting early is recommended to help ensure placement in a thematically appropriate session.
