We are always looking for new Field Sites to join us in supporting the future of social work in Hawaiʻi.
“I love being a Field Instructor! My students are eager to delve into new experiences and even question things that they are seeing and learning about – enhancing those critical thinking skills! It’s refreshing and exciting to be a mentor and to see the growth of these students before my very eyes! They teach me as much as I may teach them, and I am grateful.”
– Christy MacPherson, LCSW, Field Instructor since 2007
There are several components involved in becoming a field site. All sites must be willing and able to support students' education, have a qualified Field Instructor available to supervise and guide students, and be able to sign the Affiliation Agreement. Please see below for more information and reach out to us to schedule a time to chat!

We require an Affiliation Agreement to be executed between the partner organization and our institution. The University’s Legal Affairs department has created a standard Affiliation Agreement that is used by the Department of Social Work. Any changes to this document must be first approved by our legal counsel. A representative from the Field Office will send you a copy of the Affiliation Agreement with instructions to your email. The document must be signed by the appropriate signing authority at the partner organization.
All students are covered by a professional liability insurance policy.
