Center of Rome
During our stay in Fiumicino, my girlfriend and I got the opportunity to visit the famous Trevi Fountain in Rome. There is not much to say... IT IS BEAUTIFUL! I recommend going at night because it is not as busy and the lights light up the fountain.
Restaurant: Sancho's Pizza
Before heading to Florence, my girlfriend and I stopped in Fiumicino, Rome to visit her family and they took us to a well-known pizzeria that is loved by locals called Sancho's Pizza. Sancho was extremely friendly and welcomed us with a sample of his homemade Supplì which is a popular street food from Lazio. We ordered four kinds of different Le Pizze. One with porchetta, potatoes, rosemary. The second one is with chicken, mayonnaise, and, lettuce. The third one has gorgonzola and radicchio. The last one is a classic margarita. I will be coming back to this spot!
Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore
Duomo of Florence
The mother church of Florence is a stunning landmark in the heart of the city, built in 1296. It was the first church I visited in Italy, and its breathtaking combination of light green, pink, and white marble, along with its intricate architecture, makes it a must-see.
Restaurant: Il Tartufo
During my first week in Florence, I was eager to visit the renowned Mercato Centrale. The marketplace offered a variety of enticing restaurants, but the one that stood out to me the most was Il Tartufo. The chef offered a special of the day, which was a Carbonara pasta with fresh truffle shavings on top. This is the best dish I've tried so far!
Location: Venchi
Venchi is known for delicious gelato and chocolate. Alessia got nocciola (hazelnut) and pistachio and I got double chocolate in a cone with hazelnut crumbs on top. It was a bit pricey but worth it!
Over Valentine's weekend, Alessia and I chose to escape the chilly temperatures of Florence and head to Italy’s stunning coast. Cinque Terre, meaning "five lands," is famous for its unique and colorful villages built on the mountainside. We decided to stay in Riomaggiore, the most popular of the five towns.
Alessia and I took a 15-minute train ride to Monterosso al Mare, one of the other five cities. With the sun shining, we were in the mood for something sweet and indulged in creamy gelato as we strolled along the beach. It really doesn't get much better than this.
Cinque Terre is famous for its fritto misto di mare, or fried seafood, so we couldn't resist trying a plate. Alessia and I found a charming bar with a view of the water, where we enjoyed a delicious serving of fried shrimp, octopus, and sea bass, paired with a tangy tartar dipping sauce. To top it off, we sipped on our favorite drink, a refreshing Hugo Spritz.
After visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa, we made our way to Livorno, a nearby city famous for its seafood. We were all hungry from the journey and stumbled upon a highly rated restaurant nearby. As soon as we walked in, we were surrounded by locals—always a sign of a great spot. The spaghetti alle vongole, or spaghetti with clams, caught my eye and it exceeded my expectations. It was hands down the best clam pasta I’ve ever had.
Alessia, my roommate Jack, his girlfriend Helena, and I hopped on a train to Pisa, where we had the chance to see the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. It was an amazing sight to see.
Alessia's two friends, who were studying abroad in Paris, came to us in Florence, and we took a 5 hour train to Venice. This city is known for being on water. In this picture, we took a short tour on a gondola
One of the many things Venice is known for is its Murano Glass trinkets. A bunch of gift shops sell a bunch of different Murano glass pieces: fictional characters, animals, insects, and masks are what is most popular.
Interlaken itself doesn't have ski slopes, but it serves as a convenient base for accessing several popular ski resorts in the Jungfrau Region.
These include Grindelwald, Wengen, and Mürren, all reachable by train or bus from Interlaken.

Lake Brienz, also known as Brienzersee, is a stunning alpine lake renowned for its turquoise waters and cozy homes.
One of my favorite places!
I had to visit the famous Michelangelo's David statue. This giant statue is 17 feet tall and was an unreal sight.
All' Antico Vinaio is famous for their delicious paninis made with authentic ingredients straight from Italy. They have three locations in Florence and always have long lines. They offer a variety of giant paninis: truffle, vegetarian, pistachio, classics, and historical combinations ranging from 9 to 14 euros. I got the Truffle 3, which includes Truffle mortadella, roasted potato cream, zucchini, and basil. Worth the 20-minute wait!
My roommate Jack and I were so lucky to experience front row seats to a professional soccer game provided by our host family. My first ever professional game and it was an exciting match since Fiorentina and Juventus were big rivals.
Alessia and I took a day trip to Siena and explored the different contradas throughout the city. We ate at this farm to table restaurant called Ristorante/Pizzeria All'Orto de' Pecci, and I ate the most delicious Cacio e Pepe. On the farm, they had sheep, goats, chickens, and this unique robot sculpture.
Alessia's family is from Alberobello which is located in Puglia on the southern part of Italy and it is a small town known for their Trullis which is a traditional dry stone hut with a conical roof. It was so peaceful and full of friendly people.
Easter is a major celebration in Italy, with festivals happening all over the country. But Alessia and I decided to escape the crowds and spend the holiday weekend in Torino, visiting her cousin. While there, we explored a variety of restaurants and spent time at the fascinating Egyptian Museum.
On Easter day we had a great feast made from scratch. There was eggplant lasagna, garlic bread, spring rolls, and loaded potatos with ham.
Alessia and I spent four unforgettable days in Paris visiting her friend who was studying abroad. During our trip, we explored iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Palace of Versailles, and the Notre-Dame Cathedral. We also indulged in some of the finest French cuisine—fresh oysters, escargot, classic French onion soup, and warm, crusty baguettes.
The best pinsa I had during my entire study abroad trip was in Catania, at a small, tucked-away pizzeria. It was topped with pistachios, a rich pistachio cream, caramelized onions, and savory guanciale which was an unforgettable combination of flavors.
Palermo, on the northern coast of Sicily, is known for its beautiful beaches and cliff-jumping spots. We found a perfect little area where we could swim and jump into the water. The sea was a stunning crystal blu, refreshing, and icy cold.
Malta was my favorite destination during my study abroad journey. The weather was absolutely perfect—the sun was shining, the sea was crystal clear, and we ended up spending five hours at a beautiful bay. It was truly one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever visited.
7-hour boat cruise exploring the different island off of Malta
My favorite part of the 7-hour cruise was stopping at Blue Lagoon for a few hours.
Jack and Helena discovered a stunning waterfall spot near Siena and invited Alessia and me to join them for a day trip to explore it. After a short 45-minute hike, we arrived at an incredible swimming spot, where we found a vibrant, teal-green pool fed by a beautiful waterfall. The weather was perfect, and it turned out to be an ideal day for a refreshing swim.
Included in our tuition was a two-day trip to Pompeii and Capri. Our group stayed at the Hilton resort in Sorrento, and on the first night, we had the chance to explore the city on our own. The next day, we set off by boat to Capri, where our friend group had the amazing opportunity to take a private boat tour around the island and even take a quick dip in the freezing ocean.
We took a 20 minute ski lift to the top of this mountain.
I ate this delious Cacio e Pepe with truffle and prawns
Alessia’s father was visiting Milan for a few days, so we decided to go and spend some time with him. I had an incredible experience shopping and dining at some of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. One of the highlights was visiting the Duomo di Milano, the city’s iconic cathedral. Seeing it in person was absolutely breathtaking.
Alessia’s father took us to an authentic Sicilian restaurant, and it ended up being the best seafood I’ve ever had. Everything was incredibly fresh—especially the uni (sea urchin), which was by far the best I’ve ever tasted.
I was fortunate enough to celebrate my birthday in Florence, and as part of my gift, Alessia took me to an incredible family-owned restaurant in the hills above the city. Our table had a breathtaking view overlooking Florence and the stunning Tuscan landscape, an unforgettable experience.
