The Hawaiʻi Substance Use Professional Development (SUPD) program, based at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Thompson School of Social Work & Public Health, is funded by the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Health Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division (ADAD). The SUPD program examines the current state of Hawaiʻi’s substance use workforce and addresses its training needs.
The Hawaiʻi Child Welfare Education Collaboration (HCWEC) seeks to build a strong training pipeline to prepare highly skilled social workers for public child welfare in Hawaiʻi, with the goal of improving outcomes for Hawaiʻi's children. Through the program, award recipients receive specialized coursework in child and family social work, child welfare electives, field placements, and a field integration seminar. HCWEC students commit to post-graduate employment with Hawaiʻi’s child welfare services.
