GOOGLE MEET

In the event of school closure, all Lower School Grades PK-5 students will connect using Google Meet live video conferencing with their classroom teachers and classmates.

Google Meet is Google’s free video-conferencing tool that is available for teachers to use as part of Google Apps for Education. This virtual chat room and videoconferencing tool are perfect for facilitating collaboration in and out of the classroom and enabling teachers to “hang out” with their students anytime.

Join a Google Meet

Students will receive a link to join Google Meet via Canvas.

  1. Click the meeting link sent to you.

  2. Follow the onscreen prompts to join the meeting.

Student Expectations During a Video Conference

  • Arrive a few minutes before your scheduled meeting to test your speakers/microphone

  • Mute your microphone when you arrive to the meeting; unmute when instructed by your teacher

  • Use a Headset when possible or when in a noisy area

  • Consider lighting - avoid window backdrop

  • Keep focused on the meeting - Maintain eye contact

  • Do not conduct side chats or conversations, unless instructed by your teacher

  • Speak clearly, do not interrupt

  • Be in proper dress

  • Be in seated position, preferably at a table

  • Students should NOT cover their cameras; they are expected in virtual school the same as they are in regular school
