All delegate are expected to prepare a 1 minute opening speech, which briefly introduces their country's position on the debate topic. Delegates are also encouraged to come with clauses or resolutions prepared which they can collaborate on during unmoderated caucus.
A laptop and charger are necessary for a productive conference. Delegates may bring water, pens and notepaper, however these will also be provided by the HLMUN team. Money for lunch is also not needed, as your lunch will have been paid by your school in advance. Mobile phones may be brought with you, however we strongly encourage you to set them aside during debating sessions.
All delegates are expected to arrive in formal or business attire. This would include suits (tie optional) or formal dresses or skirts, and dress shoes, loafers or heels. Please refrain from wearing sneakers or other informal clothing.
Our Praz-Dagoud Campus is located in Saint-Légier-La-Chièsaz, and is easily accessible by car. The building's above-ground car park will be available to any schools attending.
Schools should please aim to arrive anywhere between 08:15 and 08:45 where they will be greeted by our Secretariat in the foyer of the main building. Please use the main entrance, next to the playground, as opposed to the one facing the sports pitch. The conference is expected to last until around 16:30.
AI use at the HLMUN 2026 conference is permitted, and delegates may use it to aid them in their debates. However, delegates should keep in mind that challenging themselves and being well-prepared for their debate are crucial for a productive conference as well as for personal growth. Therefore, any resolutions submitted will be AI-checked - how a delegate's AI use (or lack thereof) is interpreted remains at the chairs' discretion.
First-time conferences can be stressful, so proper rest the night before is essential. We also encourage all delegates to arrive with a positive attitude, and view this conference as a learning experience, rather than a challenge or test.
If you require help or guidance, please do not hesitate to ask your chairs - either in person, or in advance, using the contact details listed on the "Committees" page of this website. Other delegates can also provide helpful information, and knowledge-sharing is often a good method of socialising on the day.
