Digital Citizenship

At Hausner, we take Digital Citizenship seriously. Students start using devices from an early age and need to learn appropriate usage, vocabulary, etc. We encourage parents to talk with their children about these important topics as a follow-up to our in-school discussions.

Prompts for conversation:

• Password strength & security.

• How do opinions differ from facts?

• Appropriate social media use.

• What is phishing, spoofing, ghosting, and catfishing?

• Real versus fake news.

• Digital footprints.

• When should I ask permission for taking and/or posting media items?

Hausner is a Premium School partner of Commonsense Media. Please use the resource for follow up lessons at home, for getting reviews and ratings on movies, books, apps, software and more.

Look out for parent sessions and student panels on various topics related to the use of instructional technology.

BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. provide a variety of videos and activities related to digital citizenship.
