At Hausner, we take Digital Citizenship seriously. Students start using devices from an early age and need to learn appropriate usage, vocabulary, etc. Lower school students receive iPads to use in-school and upper school students receive MacBooks to use in-school and at home.
Four important elements to Digital Citizenship:
Digital Safety - Keeping yourself safe online.
Digital Wellbeing - Keeping your mind and body healthy while using tech.
Media Literacy - Thinking critically about what you see and hear.
Social Responsibility - Being kind, fair, respectful and ethical online.
We discuss Digital Citizenship through a collection of lessons taught across Library, Creativity Lab, Computer Science/Tech Rotation, and General Studies classes. We also encourage parents to talk with their children about these important topics as a follow-up to our in-school discussions.
Hausner is a Premium School partner of Commonsense Media. Please use the resource for follow up lessons at home, for getting reviews and ratings on movies, books, apps, software and more.
Look out for parent sessions and student panels on various topics related to the use of instructional technology.
BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. provide a variety of videos and activities related to digital citizenship.
