Welcome back to Term 2!
Here's what's happening this term:

Week 8
Museum Trip
Wow what fun we had at the Auckland museum! We learnt about the story of Matariki and the 9 stars. We also explored the museum in our groups.
Maths
Subtraction:
- We've been working hard trying to subtract this week. Here's Samantha working hard trying to solve a subtraction problem and trying to show how she solved it.
Week 7
Writing:
- We have been learning about verbs this week. Check out all the blends the 'Blueberries' group wrote!
- We also have been putting our blends knowledge to work and finding pictures in magazines that have blends in the word. We found lots!
Buddy class:
- We spent time with our senior buddy class this week. They helped us read our poem and colour it in! Thanks Room 17!
Well done to Ivana and Minato! You have been super stars this week!
Week 6
We enjoyed our pizza lunch this week! Well done Room 6 for raising the most money in the school.
Art
This week we have continued to explore colours. We learnt about primary colours and how these colours mixed with each other can make secondary colours. We had fun mixing to create purple, orange and green.
Puppet Show
Wow what a cool puppet show! We watched a show, then the puppeteer showed us how to make our own shadow puppet theatre and to make our own puppets.
Super work Sirius and Cynthia! Also well done to Alex for raising the most money for the Knowledge-a-thon!

Week 4
Cross Country
Well done to all the children for doing their best at cross country. It has been wonderful to see everyone's fitness improve and their positive attitudes towards running. So proud of them all!
Well done to Scarlett, Georgia and Daniel for coming in the first three in the boys and girls races.
Week 3
Inquiry
We've been exploring what light is and how shadows are created this week.
Writing:
- This week we've used the light tables to sort capital and lowercase letters.
- We also have exciting new writing tables to use when we are working in our groups with Mrs Sloan. We love them!
These two super stars, Lacey and Tani, have been doing amazing work this week!
Week 2
Inquiry
We've been looking further into shadows and light this week! This time we went outside to see if we could see shadows. We saw lots! All different shapes and sizes.
We traced around shadows and discovered they moved after awhile!
We built towers with clear coloured blocks and were able to see a coloured shadow on the ground.
Well done Alex and Rokaya for their hard work this week!
Writing:
We have been practising writing capital letters this week. Some of them are tricky!
Week 1
Inquiry
We had fun exploring light and shadows in a dark room with only torches as light. We created some funny looking shadows, saw light coming from the torch in lots of different shapes, colours and sizes.
Great start to the term with these two super stars! They've been great learners this week!
