Planning Questions:
I am working with Cameron
IRobot, Paper
We plan to make the robot write out the word Monkey
My project will have the unique qualities of displaying and drawing letters using a robot
Daily Log
Day 1: I started messing around with the software.
Day 2: I decided on what word I was going to make.
Day 3: I created the first two letters while understanding the process and coding
Day 4: I finished the letters and started to create the video
Reflection:
Using Irobot, I created a coding the allowed the robot to spell out monkey, because I though it would be fun and new. To begin with I wanted create something simple and easier and that wouldn't take to long. However, I decided to challenge myself more and do something that would test my limit a bit.
During this process, I learned how to code using angles and direction. At first I struggled because the robot would either turn too much or too little. I used one of the other prerecorded codes and learned ho wot use the angles based off of that. Eventually, I learned you can change the coding level and make it more difficult.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because had to think to help develop the coding for the robot.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the robot to turn to the right amount. I was able to do it by using one of the prerecorded drawings and use it as an example. This challenge took me awhile, however, I slowly learned by trial and error how to allow the robot to turn the correct amount.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change The font and size of font I used. The reason why I would change it is because I would like to see the difference in challenge between the fonts. The size of the letters I used fit perfectly on the grid. So if the grid was bigger I would have too change the coding rapidly.
