Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team? I'm working by myself on this project because I couldn't find a partner after project 3 and I just work better by myself on something like the 3D print.
What materials will you need for your project? I will need the website called tinker-cad and I will of course need a 3D printing machine and an iPad as well.
What is your plan to create in this project? My plan is to create some kind of cool little action figure design.
What unique qualities will your project have? The qualities my project will have is that I will be measuring everything I create to ensure no mistakes are made, and so far it's going well.
Sentence Starters
Using tinker-cad, I created a cool little figure standing on an arcade machine because since this is my last 3D project I'm allowed to do I wanted to create something funky and cool that isn't useful for anything other than decoration. My design is basically a little blank figure with a mustache standing on an arcade machine that's on top of a giant penny. I didn't want to create something that's "useful" like I did in the past. I wanted something that was funky and off the top of my head so that's what I created and it turned out weird and funky just as planned.
During this process, I learned that creating what you want to create on some websites like tinker-cad is very complex and hard when you want to create something unique and funky. I also learned that it's very hard to keep focus on your project and not dose off and not work, so I've tried my hardest every morning to get my work done in time for the project to be created. The last thing I learned is that once you've done a specific project before it goes a lot faster and easier the 2nd time, and believe it or to it's actually fun to do it a 2nd time.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to knowledge constructor because not only am I using my own personal knowledge to work through my project, but I'm also using my resources like stuff I've used in the previous projects to help make this project the best it can be. The definition of a "knowledge constructor" is "Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others." That's exactly what I've been doing, I've been using my digital tools such as tinker-cad, MrRenner.com and etc to help me work my way through this project.
A challenge I overcame on this project an idea of what I wanted to create. I was able to do it by throwing any ideas away about making things that were "useful" in the real world to just make something that I wanted to do. After playing around on tinker-cad for a few days my first idea was to create a palm tree, but something was telling me that it wouldn't work so I decided to browse through the different t kinds of objects that the website has to offer and eventually I came across a lot of fun objects to play around with. After finding the objects I wanted to use, I played around them making them look funky and that was my whole project idea which was to create something funky.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the speed of this project. The reason why I would change it is because recently I've been getting behind on projects and I need to work on managing my time and speed on projects otherwise I'm going to get behind on everything and when the year ends I'll be in a bad position. Another reason why I would change the speed is I wanna do more fun projects and not be stuck on some project for like 2 weeks which has happened, so my plan is to have a 1-week minim for each project.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Architecture/construction modeling because it's a 3D printing job that deals with making 3D blueprints for construction workers and builders which also connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at the Hastings High School. This career helps the way we document or make blueprints of buildings and houses etc and that's why it's a Construction Trade.
