List of Good Ideas 10
Here are 10 simple things you can do with a micro:bit:
Make an animated heart or other picture that scrolls across the LED screen.
Create a name tag that shows your name and a short message.
Build a virtual dice that shows a random number when you shake it.
Make a rock–paper–scissors game that picks one when you shake the micro:bit.
Turn it into a step counter using the accelerometer.
Use it as a simple compass that shows which way is north.
Program buttons A and B to play different sounds or short tunes.
Create a basic reaction-time game where you press a button when a light appears.
Send short messages between two micro:bits using the radio feature.
Use the micro:bit to control an external LED or small buzzer with the pins.

Make sure you have your video of a project
Using a Micro:bit and speakers, I created a project that played a song through a speaker because I wanted to hear how it would sound. Throughout the process, I learned how to correctly connect cables and make sure everything was safe to handle without getting shocked.
This project connects to the Knowledge Constructor standard because I built new understanding by experimenting with how to connect the speakers and wiring. I learned through trial and error and gained hands-on experience that helped me better understand how circuits and audio setups work.
One challenge I faced during this project was connecting the right wires to the connector. It took several tries to get everything aligned properly, but I eventually figured it out through patience and persistence.
If I had the chance to do this project again, I would change the song I used. I’d like to test different songs to see how they sound through the speaker and whether certain tones or beats come through better.
My project also connects to the Engineering Design program in the Hastings High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, which includes areas like Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. This project links to careers in engineering because I had to understand how electrical connections work and use problem-solving skills to make the system function properly. enhanced by https://www.perplexity.ai/

daily log
On the first day, I focused on getting familiar with the basics. I spent most of my time watching tutorial videos and exploring how everything worked. It was really helpful to see step-by-step demonstrations, and by the end of the day, I felt much more confident about how to use it effectively.
On the second day, I plugged it in and started exploring it more hands-on. I spent some time looking through different song codes and experimenting with how they worked. It was interesting to see how each code affected the sound, and I began to understand more about how to customize and create my own combinations.
On the third day, I finally found the code I wanted to use, which felt like a big step forward. After that, I started looking for speakers that would work well with it. I compared a few different options, checking for sound quality and compatibility, to make sure I’d get the best setup for what I needed.
On the fourth day, I connected the alligator cords and carefully attached the other ends to the speaker I wanted to use. I made sure each connection was secure before testing it out. Once everything was in place, I turned it on to see how it worked, and it was exciting to finally hear sound coming through the setup I had been working on.
On the fifth day, I connected everything to the speaker and started playing the song I had found earlier. It was really satisfying to hear it come together after all the setup and testing. Once it was working, I added the video to my “Videos and Images” tab so everything would be organized in one place. It felt good to see my project finally start taking shape.
