Using Scratch.edu, I created a drum kit because I love music and it would be convenient to be able to play an instrument without paying a large expense.
During this process, I learned to code with basic building blocks and using them to create something from nothing in the beginning .
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Knowledge constructor because using scratch, I made something from nothing and constructed it into a drum kit.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the middle sprite being connected as an image. This was a problem because the image was three drums but was only codable to make one sound. I was able to do it by adding a drum stool to add an additional sound to the kit. I put it close to the bass sound of the drum so it could substitute for the sound.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change The size of the drum kit as a whole. The reason why I would change it is because if you were to be clicking the drums to get the sound out of it you could miss because of the size of it.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Virtual simulations.
For each sprite which is located in the bottom right corner there is a sound that is coded to play when the sprite is clicked.
The drum can either be clicked or you can use the keys on the keyboard to make a sound.
