We will create a basketball game.

We will have an alternate point system than from actual basketball.
CTE Abilities
The kind of Career or Technical education you could get with the skill of cardboard engineering, could be creating entertainment or creating arcade machines like in the video or creating toys for children. Another thing you could do with the knowledge of cardboard creations could be is you could create entertainment with sports or some sport type games. I would make a randomized thing or something like a slot machine, which is exactly what I was gonna do, but it didn't work.
Standards in my Project
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction, and Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Construction and Engineering Design because when you create something out of cardboard it takes materials and knowing what you're doing to do it.
What We Created
Using cardboard and other materials, I created a Basketball hoop because it seemed like fun.
We created a Basketball hoop, and a box to catch the ball when we miss. We also made a point system. There's holes in the back, and if you make it in there that's plus one point so if you make it in the hoop, then in the back you get two points. It takes three points to win so if you get the back and the hoop, you've basically won.
What I Learned
During this process, I learned How to use cardboard to create games with mechanics that you could use in everyday life. I also learned that cardboard is very resourceful, and that you can learn simple things while doing cardboard projects, you could also do some very in depth things with cardboard and other materials.
A Challenge I Overcame
A challenge I overcame on this project was I couldn't figure out how to do the slot machine, so I shifted more towards a physical game and created basketball except with cardboard . I was able to do it by just changing the whole project.
I Would Change...
Given a chance to do this again, I would keep it like the slot machine, it was just too messy to keep. The reason why I would change it is because I really liked that idea I just didn't have a choice.
