CTE Opportunities
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design, Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in computer programming at companies like EA Games, or Microsoft and other programming companies.
What I learned During This Project
I learned that there is some easy and entertaining things that you can do with coding a micro bit. You can do many things with a micro bit I chose the coin flipper which was entertaining enough. I learned there is many in depth things you can do with a micro bit, you could even make Mario Bros.
A Challenge I Overcame
A challenge I overcame on this project was I was having a lot of trouble with uploading my coding to the micro bit. I was able to do it by asking help from my friend.
The first reason why I was having troubles was because I didn't know how to do it. The second time it was because the cord was bad. Then I found out how to upload the coding with help from my friend Balian.
Something I Would do Differently
Given a chance to do this again, I would change it from a coin flipper to a ball catch, the game is like, you have to hit the A button at the right point or you lose and you try to get a high score it's what Balian did. The reason why I would change it is because I got a score of 17 so it would be really fun if I created a game I liked.
Standards my Project Tie to
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational Thinker because you have to code on a computer. You also need to know how to operate things on a Chromebook.
What I Created
I created a sliding name tag that showed my first name for the first project. For the second project I created an order of images that shows a coin flipping heads or tails. If it lands on tails it shows what looks like a checker board. If it lands on heads it shows an image that looks like a diamond.
