Reflection:
I created a stop-motion story using I Motion and Legos because I find Legos to be both fun and versatile. There's something about the endless possibilities they offer that makes them perfect for creative projects like this. With Legos, you can build virtually anything, and the process of assembling characters and scenes is as enjoyable as the animation itself. I chose stop motion because it allows me to bring these creations to life, capturing each small movement to tell a story. The combination of Legos and stop motion is a great way to express creativity and imagination.
During this process, I learned how to create cool stop-motion videos using I Motion. The experience taught me the importance of patience and attention to detail, as each frame had to be carefully adjusted to create smooth, fluid movement. I also discovered various techniques for improving the quality of my animations, such as adjusting lighting and planning scenes in advance. As I experimented with different angles and movements, I gained a deeper understanding of how to tell a story through this unique medium. Overall, the process was not only educational but also incredibly rewarding, allowing me to see my creative ideas come to life one frame at a time.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer because we didn't copy someone's story we made one up.
A challenge I overcame during this project was not getting all of the pictures done on time. At first, I struggled with staying on track and keeping up with the large number of frames required for a smooth stop-motion animation. However, I was able to push through by making sure to take plenty of pictures at once, rather than waiting until the last minute. I also learned to resist the temptation of taking breaks too often, as each pause could disrupt the flow and make it harder to maintain consistency. By staying focused and committed to taking a steady stream of photos, I managed to complete the project and bring my stop-motion story to life.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the number of pictures I took. The reason I would adjust this is because the story didn't quite come together as smoothly as I had hoped, mainly because I didn't capture enough frames to make the animation flow properly. Some parts of the story felt rushed or didn't have enough detail, which affected the overall quality of the video. If I took more pictures, I could have created a smoother and more fluid narrative, allowing the story to unfold with better pacing and more consistency in the movement. In hindsight, I realize that having more pictures would have made a significant difference in the final result.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the digital multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in digital advertising coordination because, just like in that field, you have to work with digital tools and screens to create and refine content. In digital advertising, professionals use software and devices to design visuals, create videos, and manage campaigns—similar to how I used a screen and digital tools like I Motion to create my stop-motion video. The process of planning, editing, and finalizing a project on a screen in both fields requires attention to detail, creativity, and technical skill. By working through the digital aspects of my project, I gained a deeper understanding of how these skills translate to real-world careers in digital media.
