Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
by myself
What materials will you need for your project?
cospaces and a vr headset
What is your plan to create in this project?
the michigan wolverines stadium
What unique qualities will your project have?
it will have lots of detail and look really close to the actual stadium
Day 1: made my list of 10 and did my planning questions and started the stadium in cospaces
Day 2: made my field and added the logo and goal posts
Day 3: Made the wolverines on the field and the tigers on the field and added a part of the blechers
Day 4: I fixed the bleachers and added the wolverines to the stands and added the benches for the players
Reflection: Using CoSpaces, I created a football stadium VR world because I really enjoy football. The project allowed me to combine my passion for the sport with my interest in virtual reality. I wanted to design an immersive experience where users could explore a football stadium in a virtual environment, and CoSpaces provided the perfect platform to bring that vision to life.
During this process, I learned how to create a VR world from scratch. It involved understanding the tools and features of CoSpaces, as well as learning how to design 3D environments and add interactive elements. The experience helped me develop new skills in virtual reality design and gave me a deeper appreciation for the technical aspects behind creating immersive worlds.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to empowered learner because I used videos to learn how to use stuff.
A challenge I overcame during this project was getting objects to rotate in the right way. At first, it was difficult to control the rotation of certain elements within the VR world. However, I was able to solve this problem by using the arrows and the rings around the objects, which allowed me to adjust the rotation more precisely. This hands-on problem-solving helped me gain a better understanding of the controls and how to manipulate 3D objects in the virtual space.
Given a chance to do this again, I would add more moving elements to the world. Looking back, I realize that most VR worlds include dynamic features, like moving objects or interactive elements, to make the experience more engaging. I think adding movement would make the stadium feel livelier and more immersive, enhancing the overall user experience. It’s something I’d definitely focus on if I were to revisit the project.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Digital multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in video game development because most VR headsets are used for gaming. Creating a virtual world, like the football stadium I designed, is similar to how game developers build immersive environments for players to explore. The skills I developed while working on this project—such as designing 3D spaces, programming interactivity, and understanding VR platforms—are directly applicable to careers in video game creation, where the goal is to craft engaging, interactive experiences.
