7p2-Cardboard Challenge

Reflection:

• Using cardboard, hot glue, pom poms, scissors and a saw, I created a guitar with a dice roller on the inside because I wanted to make a guitar, but Karmen wanted to make a really cool dice roller, so we compramized and made a guitar dice roller! When you shake the cardboard guitar dice roller, when you put dice on the inside of the guitar, it makes noise. 

• During this process, I learned that you need more than one layer of cardboard when making a 3d project. When me and karmen only used one layer of cardboard, it started to fall apart as soon as we held it at the handle, so we had to use three. That made it a lot more sturdy and easier to hold at the handle. 

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative designer, and Creative comunicater because me and karmen had to make a plan, and write it out. We also had to talk to eachother to figure out what was wrong with our design, and if we needed to make any changes to the design to make it even better than it was before. 

• A challenge I overcame on this project was cutting edges on the cardboard. I was able to do it by talking to my partner and trying to figure it out. We eventually figured out that we should use the small saw, so we could even out the edges. Also, using that method, we figured out that it makes everything a lot less sharp and easier to not get splinters. 

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change the amount of layers on the guitar handel. The reason why I would change it is because even though we had three layers, it was still a bit bendier than I wanted it to be. I probrally will make 5 layers of carboard next time I do something like this, to make it even more sturdy. 

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the Construction Trade CTE program at Hastings High School. It connects to making new things out of recorces around you, and using the tools that you have to make something cool and functinal.   

• My project connects to careers in administration and supply because this job includes design, saftey managment and graphic design, wich I used in my creation. With design, It connects to my project because of how the graphic designers think about what their going to do. They then graph out their plan, which I then did with Karmen. Something else that graphic designers also do is make a prototype of what their going to make, to see what they need work on.
