7P8 - Sphero

Using the Sphero and Sphero Edu, I created a code for my Sphero to do, such as go around in the shape of a square. I did this because a square seemed to be the most logical. A square was the most logical to me because it is the same on all 4 sides and all the angles ae the same.

During this project I have learned how to code a Sphero. Coding a Sphero is harder than I thought it was going to be. For instance, it was hard to get the angles correct and I figured out half way through where I position the ipad affected the Sphero.

The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because my partners and I came up with ideas for the shape design. The project is also tied to Knowledge Constructor. This is because it was based on which maze my partners and I wanted to do.

A challenge I overcame on this project was coding the Spheros angles. it was quite hard to determine what the angle was and if it were to be a negative or not. I was able to do it by doing a lot of trial and error.

Given a chance to do this again, I would change the coding to the maze to be more accurate but that would probably prolong the project.The reason why I would change it is because it annoys me that the Sphero doesn’t go on the maze as well as I would like it to.

This project connect to careers in coding, we need people to code because without coders we would not have the tech we do today. With the generations starting to be more technology based we need people to code new programs and the latest tech. With coders we will continue to be able to work on and with tech.
