- Using TinkerCad I created a 3-D boat with a partner. I did this to see how many pennies our design could fit. Although my boat had slits on the sides the design wasn't half bad. My design was the second best in my classroom in holding pennies.
- During this process, I learned that creating a boat that would hold a lot of pennies is pretty hard, and that you should always go back and make sure there aren't any cracks in it. The reason I say this is because I didn't know mine would have two cracks in it because I didn't check it fully before I submitted it to be printed.
- The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because my partner and I came up with ideas for the boat design. The project is also tied to Knowledge Constructor. This is because it was based on what my partner and I wanted to make.
- A challenge I overcame on this project was remembering the basics of tinkercad and making sure the length width and height were correct I was able to do it by trying different things until i figured out how to do them and I ended up finding a button that showed the length width and height were correct.
- Given a chance to do this again, I would change the fact that there was a little slit on the sides of my boat. The reason why I would change it is because without them our boat could've possibly held more pennies. Even though it did hold a good amount I believe without the cracks it could have held a few more.
- This project connect to careers in Designing, It connects to designing because we made a prototype first and tested that to see if that boat design would hold up. We then went on to make our 'final product' which wasn't as bad as the tinfoil because it was a sturdier material.
