Money $mart - Personal Finance

Money $mart is recommended for all students! Students will learn how to “win with money” using Dave Ramsey’s Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum. This class will empower students to save, budget, avoid debt, spend wisely, and invest.

Topics include: Building wealth, saving, banking, checking account management, budgeting, credit/debt management, investments and retirement, identity theft/consumer awareness, understanding insurance, life after high school, home and automobile ownership, and understanding payroll, taxes, and work forms.

Students will experience a fully digital and innovative curriculum with online access at www.foundationsdigital.com. Additional student resources include The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), local business experts who volunteer their time in the classroom, and valuable online tools. Transcripted credits are offered through a partnership with Hastings High School and Chippewa Valley Technical College, which allows students to earn both high school and technical college credit at the same time for certain HHS courses. These courses help students prepare for the rigor of college coursework, can reduce workload during college, and can save students hundreds of dollars in tuition and book fees. These courses are taught by certified high school teachers using the technical college competencies and grading practices. Upon successful completion of these courses, earning a C or higher, students will earn technical college credit.
