Dr. Stevens' is a Susan J. Rosowski Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he directs the Canine Cognition and Human Interaction Lab. His research integrates cognitive and evolutionary perspectives to study decision making in humans and other animals. He uses theoretical, experimental, and comparative methods to model and empirically investigate the cognitive processes organisms use when making decisions.
Dr. Stevens joined the UNL Psychology faculty in Fall 2011. He received his Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior at the University of Minnesota in 2002. From 2006-2011, he was a research scientist in the Center for Adaptive Behavior and Cognition at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, Germany. In addition to being a faculty member in the Department of Psychology, he is also a core faculty member of the Center for Brain, Biology & Behavior and was founding editor-in-chief of Frontiers in Comparative Psychology.
