Community Circles are when the adults and students will form a circle and have the opportunity to speak when holding the Token (also known as the Talking Piece). Through Community Circles, students are able to form connections with their peers, create a positive classroom environment, and practice communication skills.
In August, students were introduced to Community Circles. They learned about the rules and practiced learning about the three different types of Token Tosses:
Student and teachers were able to answer get-to-know-each-other type questions as we learned about each Token Toss.
Throughout the year, I will be fostering guided conversations through Community Circles. Stay tuned to learn what they are!
