On March 11 we had 9 students attend the NW Iowa FFA District Convention. For job interview Clara Croatt competed and took 2nd place! She will be moving onto the state competition for this. For chapter website Kierstyn Ebbers placed gold. Xavier Kleve and Riley Mattingly competed in Ag Mechanics. In Floriculture Addily Benz and Mahkenzie Mattingly competed. We also had two delegates Kambrie Sadler and Ema Stofferan. On Feburary 7th Kamrynn Visser-Jennings went through multiple interviews as well as a knowledge quiz to be a NW District FFA Officer. From there she got balloted againts another girl for the Reporter position. At Districts she had to give a 2 minute speech in front of two delegates form each school in the NW District, where there she was elected the Northwest Iowa FFA District Reporter! Congrats to everyone who competed at Districts! The HMS FFA Chapter is very proud of you!
FFA week this year was Feb. 21 through Feb. 28. Our dress up days this year were as follows, Merica Monday, Teacher Tuesday, Western Wednesday, Hat Thursday, and then Blue and Gold for Friday. Throughout the week we had a coloring contest through the school district. On Tuesday morning our officers delivered breakfast to the High School staff for teacher appreciation. Friday morning the FFA chapter had High Five Friday down at the Elementary. On Friday during lunch Kam Visser-Jennings hosted a grab the mic challenge for the school. Friday afternoon the officers hosted Ag Olympics for the High School were we had barrel racing, bobbing for apples, milk chugging, find a penny in a haystack, feedbag racing, and egg toss. Over all it was a fun and successful week!Â
We had a great trip to Indianapolis for the 98th National FFA Convention!
Day 1 (Tuesday) - We spent traveling to Indianapolis.Â
Day 2 (Wednesday) - We got time looking around the expo and shopping center. We took our first tour to Ozark Fisheries.Â
Day 3 (Thursday) - We attended the morning session. In the afternoon, we toured Not Just Popcorn, and we also attended the rodeo.Â
Day 4 (Friday) - We had time at convention again to go to a few workshops before we toured Beasley’s Orchard.
Day 5 (Saturday) - We watched Kevin receive the highest degree a FFA member can receive, the American Degree. Congratulations Kevin!
On Oct. 16 we had all of our Greenhands attend Greenhand Fire up! This helped them learn more about FFA and have a fun day doing it!
On Sep. 3 we had some of our ag classes attend Percision Ag Day outside of Sutherland! Kids were able to gain more ag knowlege with different ag careers, crops and so much more! It was such a fun day!
July 19-24
Over this week we had many members participate in the fair! We loved being able to support our members and had so much fun doing it! Congrats to Kierstyn Ebbers for getting fair princess!
July 14-19
Over this week we had so much fun at fair! We had members competeing with things they have made and showing livestock! It was another great fair!
On June 14 our chapter paired with our alumni put together a calf show! We had so much fun and can't wait to do it again next year!
May 4
Our chapter wrapped up another year and had to say goodbye to our seniors! We celebrated so many things we did this year! Can't wait for a new year!
