TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS
I recommend that seventh graders get at least THREE teacher recommendations. Sixth graders should get at least ONE recommendation. Send an email with the recommendation link to your teachers as soon as possible to give them plenty of time to complete it. Follow up a few days before the deadline with a "thank you" note or email. This is a nice courtesy, and also a good reminder in case they forgot! Teacher recommendations should be received BEFORE interviews begin.
If you are applying for RioTV, ASB, Drama Production, or Yearbook, the recommendation form is the same for all these programs. Teachers only need to fill this out ONCE.

WAITING UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE?
If you've waited until the end of the application window, this is STILL a good time to ask for a recommendation (and WAY better than not getting one at all). If this is the FINAL week to apply (when I usually receive half of my RioTV applications), here is one way to approach your teacher for a last-minute recommendation. Put it in your own words, of course.
Dear Mr/Ms. _________,
I've been giving it a lot of thought and I have decided to go for it and apply for RioTV. I know the application deadline is this Friday, but Mr. Ippolito told me that he can consider teacher recommendations through next week.Â
Do you think you would have some time to fill out the Recommendation Form for me? It should take less than two minutes to complete. Thank you so much for considering.
