Hey RIver Hawks!

ASB is a leadership class that focuses on creating different events, moments, and experiences for students to feel connected on campus. ASB students are in charge of the brainstorming, planning, and execution of several types of events on campus.  Some examples of these events include Summer Check-In, dances, spirit days, LTAs, fundraisers, the 6th Grade Jamboree, and Open House.

The ASB class is led by the executive board (also known as the executive council). There are 4 positions in the executive board: president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. These four students oversee the activity happening in the ASB class and make sure that the student body is being represented in the decisions being made.

Current Rio Norte 7th graders get to vote for the students they want to represent the student body for next school year! Keep scrolling down this page to read a paragraph and watch a video from each student who is running for executive board.

Thank you for participating and making our school so amazing!

Klenam A.

Hi, I’m Klenam Agbeibor and I’ll be running for a spot on the executive board. If I join the executive board I will have many great opportunities to improve on different aspects like leadership and decision-making. With the many changes happening including in ASB, the right people need to step up, and I believe that I can be one of those people. If I am elected I want to be able to work on student health and involvement. I think student health is very important and I think one good idea is weekly check-ins, just a simple hello or even how was your day can make students feel special and needed. I also want to try to make participation higher while even incorporating some quick and easy-to-clean-up games like volleyball and basketball into some of the many activities we do. Along with that, I want to make sure that the new teacher and upcoming 7th graders will be able to learn a lot more about ASB. With your vote, I will make the 2023-2024 school year a year of new opportunities, smoothness, and fun.

Hi everyone, I’m Hazel Dalley and I’m running to be part of the ASB Executive Board for the 2023-2024 school year. Here is a little background information about me. I have always believed that mistakes are necessary to achieve success. I will use this skill to continue to grow and learn in my role. As an Executive Board Member I will commit my time here at Rio to help students have the best experience possible. Big or small, I will do my best to listen and act on ways to make our time here at Rio memorable. I want to represent you all. I’m here to listen. I will be your voice! Hello Riverhawks! My name is Allie Lee, and I am running for a spot on the executive board. From planning dances, to selling the Valentine Grams, ASB has been such an amazing experience to be a part of. I have learned many valuable skills such as unifying the student body, creating posters, developing advertisements, selling products, and etc to carry on with me in the future. I would like to continue what I am doing now as well as becoming a proud representative of our student government and school as a whole. With your vote, I will be absolutely determined to make sure that every source of feedback, comments, thoughts, and ideas from students are heard to make the school the best as possible! As an executive board member, I will do anything and everything I can to make the 2023-2024 school year the most fun and memorable experience for everyone!

Kathir M.

So, the ASB elections are here, and everyone else has got some competition: me! My name is Kathir Murugesan, and I plan on getting on the ASB executive board. What can I bring to the table? Well, there’s quite a lot. Being in ASB this year has taught me principles that can lead one through life, and I’ve met many friends who have pushed me to strive forward and get outside my comfort zone a little. With these beacons of moral guidance, I believe I have what it takes to make an effective board member. I’m definitely not perfect, and nobody is. I do my best, lose my way a few times, feel a bit guilty, but that’s part of being in ASB! And though I myself may not realize it, I’ve slowly learned more and more about the standard one should set for themselves: the highest one. And that’s the only one my eyes are set on. I’ll work with more students, ASB or otherwise, to make Rio Norte even better than it already is. Dances, school spirit, LTAs, clubs, activities, house bonding, you name it. Push those limits. Take it up a notch. Go full throttle. Accumulate those dormant ideas, and make ‘em bloom.  Put my name on that board, and prepare for one of your most memorable school years ever! You better watch out, because this school’s gonna have a future so bright, you’ll have to wear sunglasses!

Each day is an incredible opportunity to make a difference, and my goal is to make that difference for YOU in the 2023-2024 school year. As a candidate for the upcoming ASB executive board, I know that my experiences this year have taught me valuable lessons about teamwork, flexibility, and having a willingness to learn and improve. I am a dedicated and trustworthy candidate who knows that my role will be to represent all students to the best of my ability. As we plan to improve in the upcoming school year, I look forward to creating opportunities for more student involvement and activities for all of us to enjoy. Our middle school years should be memorable and fun! Let’s make sure that Lunch Time Activities grab your attention quickly and make you want to participate. Let’s make sure that next year’s dances are exciting with new themes and different ways to create memorable moments. Let’s make sure that your voices are heard. I plan to listen to feedback from YOU in order to implement new ideas and opportunities for all of us. Our school already has an awesome staff, amazing students, and a great campus, and my goal is to help make things better than they already are. A vote for me is really a vote for YOU as I plan to work tirelessly to represent the student body at Rio Norte.

Hey Rio, my name is Connor Riley and I’m running for a position on the ASB executive board for the 2023 through 2024 school year. I think you should vote for me because I would be a leader that listens to you and makes your ideas happen. If I do get elected, I would be open to listen to any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or issues that you have with how things are being done. I would try to make those ideas come true and I would find a way to fix the issues. I have had a great experience in ASB this past year and would be honored to represent our school. I would do my absolute best to continue what our current executive board has been doing and try to make next year even better than this one.
