Broadway Musical Theatre Group Research Project is one of the most popular projects we do in Beginning Drama.
Overview: For this project, students will work in small groups (3 – 5 people) to research a specific Broadway musical and create a poster with information to present to the rest of the class.
Objectives: During the course of this project, students will be expected to:
∙ Work with others to organize and present an informative class presentation
∙ Complete individual tasks as decided upon by all group members
∙ Use library and internet resources to find information
∙ Research the historical and cultural significance of a Broadway musical
Radio Theatre Unit is one of the most unique projects we do in Beginning Drama.
Radio Theatre strengthens reading skills concentration, diction, vocabulary, critical listening, critical thinking, creative writing and a students' self-esteem. The script is read, not memorized. This helps decrease anxiety and helps build self confidence for students. Throughout this unit students learn about the history of radio theatre, explore the career of Foley artists, create sound scenes, radio commercials, and write and perform their own radio theatre stories that we record and listen to in class. This unit is especially fun in the fall semester when we use Halloween as our over all theme.
Drama Escape Room!
At the end of each semester, Beginning Drama students take a journey in order to successfully unlock our Drama Escape room. Students work in teams to solve five different puzzles all related to theatre and lessons we learned throughout the semester.
