RULER is an evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning (SEL) developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. The program supports an entire school community in understanding the value of emotions, building the skills of emotional intelligence, and creating and maintaining a positive school climate.  RULER aims to infuse the principles of emotional intelligence into the immune system of schools, enhancing how students learn, teachers teach, and leaders lead.

We will be connecting RULER to all parts of our AOC community by having school wide activities, integrating core routines and language that build emotional awareness, and by partnering with our families. In our 9th Grade Seminar and 10th-12th grade Advisement classes, teachers will be facilitating developmentally appropriate lessons on topics such as viewing emotions as information, setting goals, resolving conflicts, managing stress, and continuing to develop their best selves.
