While homework won't be formally collected for a grade, here are some suggestions to do each week to practice our first grade skills.
A Daily Review packet will be sent home at the start of a Math topic. It will review concepts that students have learned in that unit and previous units.Â
Students are encouraged to read at home each night. CKLA Skills and Knowledge information will be sent home throughout each unit. Please complete the Take Home pages to reinforce learned skills. More information will be shared at our Open House.
There is no formal writing homework, but students are encouraged to write at home. They can write a short story, about their weekend, a favorite memory, about their pet, about a favorite activity - there are so many options! In first grade, we are working on starting a sentence with a capital letter, ending with a punctuation mark, and stretching words out. Students are encouraged to use their best spelling.
