Hello Parents!
I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself; my name is Kathleen Ward (please call me Katie) and I am your child's fourth grade teacher. I am so excited to be embarking upon a new school year that will be filled with lots of learning and fun! I am very eager to apply the methods and techniques that I have studied and learned throughout my educational and professional experiences to enhance your child's education. I truly feel that my positive education experiences have and continue to impact my teaching style. I have completed my Bachelor of Science at East Stroudsburg University, which is located in Pennsylvania, in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. After finishing my undergraduate work, I immediately attended graduate school. I have also earned my Masters Degree in Education in Reading. Throughout my time at East Stroudsburg University I had many diverse experiences working with children. I am thrilled at the prospect of teaching fourth grade at Pleasant Valley School for ...hold your heart.... a 22nd year!!
As we continue to get familiar with one another, I hope to develop a unique and positive rapport with each student in the class as well as with you! These children are a very special group of students that I know are destined to do great things. I intend to help guide each and every person to success. I feel that school needs to be productive and challenging, but most of all fun. I realize and appreciate the vast differences and exceptionalities that make us all special individuals and I will embrace these characteristics in our classroom.
Many researchers have found that open communication between parents and classroom teachers is essential for a successful year. I invite you to e-mail me with any questions or concerns that you may have throughout the school year at wardk@harrisontwp.k12.nj.us or via voice mail at 1-856-223-5120 x2402. I will be giving you more information about our class on Back-to-School Night! I am looking forward to having a great year together!
Fondly,
Katie Ward
